Too much to ask?

As I posted, yesterday, I spent a long time trying to fix the (insert expletive of your choice here) toilet. It was well over an hour, not including clean up.

My husband came home from work and had it fixed in under a minute. I watched what he did. There was no difference in technique. I know I should be grateful that he fixed it so easily, “That’s so great, thank you,” and I was, outwardly.

However, deep inside I was shrieking in frustration, “That’s not fair! I did the exact same thing, for twenty minutes. Then, I found that nasty drain snake, researched how to use it, and fought and wrestled with that putrid thing. You waltz in here plunge twice and ta-daa it works? You couldn’t at least pretend to struggle with it?”

Someday I want to be the household hero.

Same thing happens in IT. A person has a problem, says they did A, B, C, and even D and it didn’t work. I finally go on site, do A, and it works. Who knows…

Given the challenging workload of keeping a house and raising children, most men would gladly work on toilets any day, all day.

as a great handyman once said: “You’re not holding your mouth right.”

Ummm. As far as I’m concerned, you ARE the household hero. Goodness girl, just think about all you do around there on a dily basis! Heather the hero!! Hooray! :-)

my mom would say, “he needed to fix that toilet so he would feel respected”

needless to say, my mother and I butt heads on many subjects…sorry, didn’t mean to dump all that on you here…LOL

It’s Ok Gypsy. I vent here all the time, it’s a safe place.

Thank you, I do understand your points, Margo & Windviel, I just wish sometimes I got to be the one who performed the little trick that saved the day. Although sometimes I think he tack welds the lids on all the jars just so he can open them.

Dan, that must be it.

Jason, machinery and I do not get along, if something is limping along, you can be guaranteed it will fall apart when I touch it. I had a bad run with lawnmowers earlier this year. I know it’s chance and happenstance, but it can be quite aggravating. Have you ever been walking or driving with a person that seems to make the streetlights fail? That’s me.

I guess it would be cool to be a household hero, but generally I leave that to Patrick.

I’m trying to keep my “Never used a drill in my life” record alive.
